Our Highly Qualified Interpreters

qualified interpreters Our highly qualified interpreters specialize in medical interpreting and our customers can be confident that the interpreter they reach is a qualified, trained professional medical interpreter with the experience needed to do the job. Many of our interpreters have strong medical backgrounds. Some of our interpreters are part time Medical Assistants, Nurses and some have even passed their medical boards here in the U.S. and are applying for residency.

Most InDemand interpreters work full time and handle many times more encounters per year than a typical onsite interpreter thus increasing their skills and experience at a faster rate.

Certifications and Qualifications

All InDemand interpreters are certified at state and national levels where available through an accredited certification program in their jurisdiction.

InDemand Interpreting Chicago In addition, most of our interpreters have or are pursuing their CHI/AHI certifications. We do not employ any offshore interpreters, and we don’t have any locations outside the United States.

Our ASL interpreters are nationally certified at the highest levels and have an average of 13 years of professional interpreting experience. Many have advanced degrees in an interpreting field and others have helped develop state programs and standards.

In addition, many of our interpreters are certified in court interpreting, social service interpreting, and are certified translators.

Our video interpreters work in secure call centers, in private cubicles, rather than at home or in insecure locations or locations lacking privacy.

Competency Assessments

Interpreters must pass a nationally recognized qualification test for medical interpreters in the medical field testing the core competencies necessary to be a successful healthcare interpreter.  This ensures the knowledge of interpreting ethics, modes and standards, medical vocabulary, listening and memorization skills, and speech production in both source and target languages.  These tests are administered regularly to track improvements and assess competency of interpreters to provide interpreting services in the medical field.

InDemand conducts ongoing quality assessments to monitor the level of service and competencies of interpreters, including regular anonymous shadowing through the use of our InDemand VRI software.
